This year, at the Port Hope Canada Day event on July 1, we are planning to hand out words of wisdom and need your help.

Local artist, Leslie Smith, has a giant stash of pennies and came up with this pennies project to help connect community members of all ages.

Our goal is to collect words of wisdom from Port Hope locals and hand out these phrases, along with a Canadian penny at the event in Memorial Park. Penny For A Thought - simple, wholesome fun.

What we are looking for is a short piece of advice, old adage or fun fact, that we can print on a small piece of paper.

Below are some prompts to help inspire your submission:
What would you want the youth of today to know?
What seasoned wisdom can you share?
Do you have a fact that must be shared?
What advice can you give the older generation?

Your age, along with your first name will be published on the penny for a thought handout. If you select, remain anonymous, we will still include your age and assign your advice to the generic identifier of "local resident".

Phrases will be handed out, along with a Canadian Penny, at the Canada Day event downtown on July 1.
